93 exercises in GymVim train the shoulders, across front delts (65), side delts (17) and rear delts (11). Pick a muscle below to narrow it down, or scroll the whole list.
The rounded shape of the shoulder comes from the deltoid, one muscle with three heads that start at different points around the joint: the front head on the collarbone, the side head on the top of the shoulder blade, and the rear head on the ridge along its back. All three meet on the outside of the upper arm.
Each head lifts the arm in its own direction. The front raises it forward and does much of the work in pressing, the side lifts it out to the side, and the rear draws it backwards. That is why shoulder exercises come as presses, lateral raises and reverse flyes, and why pressing alone leaves the side and rear heads with less to do.
