How to do it

  1. Stand tall with the feet about hip-width apart and one kettlebell in the front rack.
  2. Rest the bell on the forearm, wrist stacked, free arm hanging at the side.
  3. Brace the trunk and keep the ribs stacked over the pelvis.
  4. Press the kettlebell up and slightly out so it clears the head and locks out overhead.
  5. Pause with the biceps near the ear and the shoulder packed, not shrugged.
  6. Lower to the rack under control, finish the set, then switch sides.

Common mistakes

  • Leaning hard away from the bell to finish the press.
  • Letting the wrist fold back under the handle.
  • Jutting the head forward as the bell goes up.
  • Pressing the bell far out in front instead of stacking it over the shoulder.
