Switching from Strong

A Free Strong Alternative With Plans You Can Follow

Strong is a fast, clean logger. Where lifters outgrow it is the free plan's three routines and the lack of programs to follow. GymVim gives you 70+ full plans, day by day, and logs every set just as quickly. Free, with no ads.

Where Strong is better

Switching from Strong

GymVim can't import your Strong history yet, so keep Strong for your old logs.

Pick one of the 70+ plans, or rebuild your routines as a plan of your own, and log your next workout in GymVim. Last session's weights fill in from there on.

Good to know

Is GymVim really free?
Yes. Every plan, chart and exercise video is free, and there are no ads.
Can I import my workouts from Strong?
Not yet. Keep Strong for your history and start logging new workouts in GymVim.
How many routines can I have?
Up to 5 plans of your own, and each plan is a full multi-day program. The 70+ library plans are there on top of that.
Does GymVim have warm-up sets and a plate calculator?
Yes. Add warm-up sets to any exercise in your plan: they're logged apart from your working sets, with last time's warm-up weights filled in, and stay out of your volume. When you log a barbell lift, the keypad shows the plates to load on each side. You can also rate each set by RPE or RIR, and mark drop sets, AMRAP and sets to failure.
Does GymVim have an Apple Watch app?
Yes. It shows your plan, logs sets with last session's weights filled in, runs the rest timer and shows your heart rate, even with your iPhone away. The workout keeps its average and peak heart rate.

Your plan, your sets and your progress in one app. Free, no ads.
