How to do it

  1. Stand with the feet about hip width and hold one kettlebell by the horns at chest height, bell up.
  2. Brace the trunk and keep the ribs stacked over the pelvis.
  3. Circle the kettlebell around the head, passing it close behind the neck.
  4. Keep both hands on the same horns for the whole circle.
  5. Return to the chest and reverse the direction.
  6. Repeat slow, even circles without leaning the torso to make range.

Common mistakes

  • Drawing a wide orbit that lets the torso side-bend instead of the shoulders rotating.
  • Arching the lower back to sneak the bell behind the neck.
  • Holding the breath, which stiffens the ribcage the thoracic spine needs to move.
  • Using a bell so heavy that the path jerks and clips the head.
